VFD Use Precautions

1. Do not install the frequency converter on vibrating equipment, because the connecting screws of the main circuit in the frequency converter are easy to loosen, and many frequency converters are damaged due to this reason.

2. Wiring problem: It is best to connect an air starter protection current to the input end of the inverter, and the value should not be too large, to prevent serious burning in the event of a short circuit. The “N” terminal must not be grounded. The control line should not be too long. Because this will make the control board vulnerable to electromagnetic wave interference and cause malfunction, it will also cause damage to the control board, it is best to use shielded wires longer than 2 meters. Do not install a contactor with high current and frequent action next to the inverter, because it interferes a lot with the inverter and often causes the inverter to malfunction (display various faults).

3. It is best not to rely on the inverter itself to brake the inverter that often needs to stop in an emergency but to add a brake resistor or use mechanical brakes, otherwise the inverter is often impacted by the back electromotive force of the motor, and the failure rate will be greatly increased.

4. If the inverter often runs at a low speed below 15Hz, the motor should be equipped with a cooling fan!

5. Dust and moisture are the deadliest killers of inverters. It is best to install the inverter in an air-conditioned room, or an electric cabinet with a dust filter, and regularly clean the dust on the circuit board and radiator; it is best to use a hair dryer before powering on the inverter that has been shut down for some time. Blow on the board.

6. When the cooling fan of some brands of frequency converter is broken, it will not issue overheating protection until the frequency converter is damaged, so when the fan makes a noise, it should be replaced.

7. In some factories, the power supply is generated by a generator, the voltage is unstable, and the frequency converter is often damaged. The generator is equipped with a voltage stabilizing or over-voltage protection device, and the effect is very good.

8. Lightning protection is also important. Although it rarely happens, when the inverter is struck by lightning, it will be severely damaged. The frequency converter with a constant pressure water supply is most likely to be struck by lightning because it has a lightning pipe extending to the sky.
